Before being elected as Ottawa Centre MP, Yasir Naqvi proposed that the 2021 Colonel By Drive closure be repeated into 2022.

Here is what was included in that proposal:

  • Extend the 2021 pilot project, that reserved CBD for active users, for a full year
  • Conduct this pilot for a full year in order to collect the data needed to “measure the quantitative success of this important project”
  • While the proposal did not specify what length of roadway was to be reserved for the pilot, his musings in the media were to close CBD from the Rideau Centre to Bronson (i.e., the length closed in 2021)

While we are thrilled that parkways became an election issue this year, we know that the community has additional ideas for what we can do with CBD.

Yasir Naqvi has put one option for Colonel By Drive on the table. Over the next week or two, we will be posting additional options suggested by CBD users for consideration at our community discussion on Reimagining Colonel By Drive on 1 December.
